My name is Ryan Clark, and I am a writer looking to create and expand my base of works, improve upon my storytelling craft, and to explore new worlds and new ideas with anyone who would follow along. For now, I am trying the self-publishing route, and I am excited as I am terrified of what I will find along the way.
Setting out with self-publishing feels a lot like hopping in a small boat, raising the sail, and letting the winds take you to sea. I’ve got a course in mind and hopes for a destination, but most of the journey is going to feel just like holding on.
All metaphors aside, I live in the US mid-west, and the majority of my interests are ‘land-locked.’ I grew up brandishing wooden swords, hiking the woods, and exploring worlds far to the past, or in a distant future. I have no problem with the common grouping of the Science Fiction and Fantasy sections because that is where I will look, be it in books, movies, or games.
As for writing accomplishments, Cryogenesis is my first ‘worthy’ book. I have written two other novels in an opposite genera of a sword and magic fantasy, but as of now, they are stapled in chapters and buried in the corner where they will stay. I plan on bringing more books to the Tech Hunter series, and I have a building list for future ideas after the series is complete. Hopefully by then I can really lock in my craft as a writer.
In that same token, knowing my work will continue to improve really frees me up to have fun and experiment with the whole Tech Hunter idea. I might not get to take it to all of the places I want, but at least I know that it will reach to where I never expected.
As for the reception of the books and the sales themselves, I give a whole-hearted shrug. I know what would be nice, but perhaps this will serve as the first stepping stone to reach for a higher place, be it a wider recognition of the books, a knock on the door to the traditional publishing route, or simply a smack of reality and a redoubling of my determination.
I thank you for reading, and I hope somewhere along the line I can take you to a place where you are truly amazed.
